Most if not all of these now have gold standard OA opportunities. But basically you are right.

Using the TR IF works for now, but in the long run I'm pretty sure the scam publishers will learn how to manipulate it.Christian Munthehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03373442927438898939noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6763377479629539589.post-59771205121367463352012-09-07T15:25:35.972+02:002012-09-07T15:25:35.972+02:00My two cents.

For example, I would recommend for researchers in the aforementioned fields to publish only in journals published by IEEE, Elsevier, ACM or Springer, and in that order. Almost all journals by these folks are well reputed and respected. A second check can be that even for a particular journal by any of these publishers, go to its webpage and see if it has a Thomson ISI impact factor. If the IF >= 0.5 and the publisher is one of the above mentioned ones, then go ahead, you are publishing in a good journal.Usmannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6763377479629539589.post-47294624056543276282012-07-18T17:45:55.911+02:002012-07-18T17:45:55.911+02:00Ask for help from your academic librarian.Ask for help from your academic librarian.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6763377479629539589.post-40096320179987362212012-07-16T19:17:08.117+02:002012-07-16T19:17:08.117+02:00I appreciatte the warning, but could also use some...I appreciatte the warning, but could also use some guidance about how to find legitimate publishing venues.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6763377479629539589.post-2414091631914441342012-04-11T14:52:49.719+02:002012-04-11T14:52:49.719+02:00Excellent Excellent Post.
