Another example would be the picturing of WG's argument as built on an Epicurean premise about death not being capable of harming us or being bad for us. Clearly WG does not embrace this premise, since he argues that we can be harmed by being killed against our will, for instance - so death can indeed be bad for us according to WG's view - again, pretty straightforward. I suppose, these are just a few ways in which being a "news service" may very well be compatible with at the same time tweaking items according to an underlying agenda. I'm not exactly sure how you think that the (very plausible) contention that publications such as the Daily Mail engage in similar practices changes any of that.Christian Munthehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03373442927438898939noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6763377479629539589.post-52305664087899611972013-04-04T00:45:18.517+02:002013-04-04T00:45:18.517+02:00Hi there,
Thanks for picking up the BioEdge story ...Hi there,
Thanks for picking up the BioEdge story about Dr Glennon's article. Feel free to say whatever you like, but I would dispute the adjectives you use to describe BioEdge. It is a news service and so does not normally engage in philosophical argument. As for "shadily cloaked", I would differ. I have never made a secret of my own stand on things. In fact, BioEdge has succeeded here -- we drew Dr Glennon's article from the obscurity of an firewalled, academic publication into daylight where you and other can comment.

As for "cautious snickering and mockery", I'm not sure what you are talking about. It is just the facts.

Please send Dr Glennon's article to the Daily Mail and see what they make of it if you want some incautious snickering and mockery.

CheersMichael Cookhttp://www.bioedge.org/noreply@blogger.com
